ネイチャーフォトグラファー柏倉陽介について

 

文明と野生の衝突地帯に生きるオランウータンのリハビリテーションをテーマとして、制作に15年をかけた写真集『Back to the Wild 森を失ったオランウータン』を上梓。『オランウータンと緑の津波』と題した巡回展を北海道旭山動物園、えこりん村、円山動物園にて開催した。世界最大の霊長類保護支援団体であるBOS財団が主催する「MOVING PICTURES展」をはじめ、米国立スミソニアン自然史博物館、ロンドン自然史博物館、国連気候変動枠組条約締約国会議にて作品を展示している。LensCulture Earth Awards、ナショナルジオグラフィック国際フォトコンテスト、ワイルドライフフォトグラファー・オブザイヤーなどに入賞し、Monochrome Photography Awards / ランドスケープ・フォトグラファー・オブザイヤーを受賞。Monochrome Photography Awardsの審査員も務めている。2025年より「Endless」と題した環境撮影プロジェクトを開始した。現在は写真家を続けながら、北海道恵庭市にてエコロジーをテーマにした「えこりん村」でのディレクター業務や北海道文教大学客員教授なども務めている

His main areas of photography include natural landscapes, humans in confrontation with nature, and environmental protection, among others. He has exhibited his environmentally-themed work at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in the U.S., the Natural History Museum in London, C40 World Mayors Summit, and the United Nations Climate Change Conference. His work has also been included in publications by the Deutsches Museum and the Natural History Museum, LensCulture magazine, as well as other domestic and international media. His awards include the Monochrome Photography Awards/Landscape Photographer of the Year, Paris Photography Prize, PX3/Gold Medal in Wildlife Photography and Gold Medal in Earth Photography, LensCulture Earth Awards/2nd Place in Single Image Photography, National Geographic International Photo Contest/Nature Category Honorable Mention, and Wildlife Photographer of the Year / Highly Commended. Since 2023, he has also served as a judge for the Monochrome Photography Awards.
In recent years, he has published articles on environmental issues, essays on photography, as well as photographs and videos in domestic and international media while shooting for magazines and advertisements in Japan and abroad. In addition, he has accompanied adventurer Yasunaga Ogita and a group of young people on a 600-km expedition to the Arctic Circle. He has been continuously presenting works on the landscapes of the rehabilitation of orangutans living in the collision zones between civilization and the wild, and in 2024 he published a photo book "Back to the Wild: Orangutans Who Lost Their Forest," which he had been working on for 15 years.
